It’s important to note that you’ll need to meet certain requirements before you can hire a car or commercial van with us. When you come to pick up your chosen vehicle from Hurst RentaCar, you must have specific types of ID, documents and methods of payment with you on arrival.
Residents of the UK & the Republic of Ireland
You must have both parts of your driving licence to rent a car in Northern Ireland, as well as a credit or debit card. Passports are accepted as a primary proof of ID, and you’ll also need a secondary document such as a utility bill (gas/electricity, TV or telephone bill) or a letter from HMRC (UK) or Revenue Commissioners (RoI). All documents must be in the name of the person wishing to hire the car, at their address, and no more than three months old.
Payment for your rental car needs to be made by credit or debit card, and this can be done by a partner if you’re unable to be present at our head office. In certain cases we may ask you for a deposit. No payments will be taken until you’ve picked up your vehicle.
Residents of other countries
If you’re visiting Northern Ireland from overseas and you’d like to hire a car, you need all applicable parts of your driving licence with you. A credit card and passport are both needed as forms of ID, and the passport must be in the name of the person wishing to hire the car.
Payment must be made by credit card, and this will only be taken when you’ve arrived to collect your car. We may ask for a deposit in some cases.
Delivery and collection
To make the hire of any vehicle much easier, we offer a personal delivery and collection service. This can be requested by contacting us in advance – booking isn’t usually needed for our rental cars, but the collection or delivery of any model should both be arranged before hire.
There are plenty of reasons why our delivery and collection services for rental cars are a perfect choice. If you’re unable to visit our Belfast head office in person for any reason, we’ll bring the car to you and pick it back up. You can choose where the car will be dropped off and collected from, and they don’t have to be the same place, which is ideal if you’re making a one-way journey. Business users may also appreciate the convenience of having an executive vehicle delivered to their office or ready to meet them after a flight.
The rental car or commercial vehicle that you choose can be delivered to your home, place of work, or either of the nearby airports as part of our airport rental service. We’ll also come and collect it from you at the end of your hire term if you choose. As with our standard hire procedures, terms and conditions apply – see our FAQs page for more information.
